Feature in Focus: Customized, Flexible Service Options

One of the major advantages of PMXpert is its flexibility, which allows it to accommodate the preventive maintenance needs of any industry. The main feature that allows PMXpert to adjust to any PM requirements is the user-defined Service setup.

When you set up PMXpert for your business, you completely customize the services. You enter and define all service information, so you’ll never have to “make do” with pre-set options that are not quite right, or services you don’t want. Services can be called anything you like and you can create as many as you need. If you want to set up your services on a cycle, you can choose a meter or counter (such as an odometer or hour meter), time, or a combination of meter and time. Other options are available, such as whether to “Adjust for Downtime” if you want the scheduler to compensate for asset downtime, or “Keep on Schedule” if you want PMXpert to ignore that a service was performed early or late when next scheduling the service. If you want, you can also Link Services so that two services that occur in the same window will be pulled into the same Work Order, meaning the asset will only go for servicing once instead of several times over a short period.
After creating your services, you can then set up an asset or piece of equipment with as many services as necessary. When you add a service to an asset, you can add even more details to customize the service to your preventive maintenance processes, such as the people responsible for completing the labor, specific Procedures that need to be followed, and Service Details such as parts and fluids required for the service.

Helpful Hint: Cleaning House with PMXpert Purge

If your database is getting larger and larger by the day, it may be time to purge some stuff you don’t need anymore. PMXpert has several purge options in the purge wizard, which you can run by selecting Utilities | Purge | Database from the main menu. For example, you can purge data such as closed work orders, performed requests and received purchase orders to a second database, so that even though the purged items no longer take up space in your main database, you can still find the items in the second database if necessary.

For more information about utilities and how to use them, refer to Chapter 11: Utilities in the PMXpert User Manual. Remember that any time you run utilities, you should create a complete backup of your data, in addition to the regular data backups you should already be running.

Did You Know? Reports Have the Info You Need

Did You Know... that PMXpert has over 40 professionally designed, built-in reports? With just a click, you can get all the detailed information you need – fast!

PMXpert’s reports cover all different areas of the program, and most reports can display different information depending on the options you select for the date range, items included, filtering, etc. For example, you can track your maintenance repair costs with Costing Reports, which you can view in detail, or summarize by Asset, Service or Labor. Review a quick overview of your assets with the Asset Snapshot, or look up more detailed information about your Assets in reports such as Asset Usage, Asset Downtime or Asset Part/Fluid List. Do you want to see how many Work Orders are getting done on time? Check the Work Order Service Performance report. Do you want to view services coming up in the future? Check the Service Forecast report.
There are many more reports with the information you need, but if you have very specific requirements, you can customize existing reports or create entirely new reports in PMXpert’s built-in Report Designer. NOTE: Customizing and producing new reports requires previous experience with SQL scripts and report building.
